- I am currently a resident assistant and I am pretty creative in coming up with program ideas and passionate about making sure my residents enjoy the socials I host. I have had plenty of experience planning programs, but have also experienced being envious of others programs upon completion because of how well they turned out. I would love to have access to their program plan, where they bought their supplies, and other tips for the programs. I am applying to be a graduate hall director, a supervisor to the RAs, so I would encourage my RAs to use this.
- My product is another section to the mandatory activity assessments RAs complete, which allows RAs to categorize their program quickly by type, time requirement, cost, whether food is provided, links to outside resources or web pages with activity descriptions, and file upload options. Then RAs would be able to search this system to find a creative program that meets their and their residents needs.
- I'm offering this to the department of housing and residence life education at UF, specifically resident assistants that are responsible for planning programs for their residents.
- Making their job easier. This system would essentially provide an easy way to select a program that meets resident wants and any requirements of the RA along with easy access to support materials and reduce the preparation time.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your idea! It sounds like RAs have a lot of stress with planning events! I was never in a dorm so I'm not really sure what goes on with them. However, from reading your idea napkin I can tell that a lot of planning is required, especially for late, last-minute college kids like myself. I think your idea could really be helpful for other RAs. Parties and events are difficult to set up and Pinterest sets some really unrealistic expectations! (lol) I think your idea could also help others who plan things like teachers or mothers so you could easily expand this idea.

ReplyDeleteI am not sure what is required of RAs to do so I am not really familiar with the process. Try explaining what these programs or plans you are talking about refer to and elaborate more on the assessments that RAs have to do because I am not really sure what you mean about trying to have access to their plan. I think if you expand on this then students would really be interested. Since you are an RA try talking personal experiences so that you can make it more relatable. So far I like this idea because it seems that RAs have a lot of things to manage and this would help them out.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an interesting idea and definitely a market that I am not familiar with. Took me a second to realize exactly what your idea was and once I got it it seemed like a good idea that hasn't been looked at before. I do think that your market is incredibly niche and might be small, but that is ok as long as you provide something that the market will like and buy. Another thing, it would be good to know exactly how you are delivering your product. Is it a web site or is it an app? Or is it possibly something else? Hi Emily! Thanks for sharing your post- I like the idea of your product, especially that it is something that seems very "doable". A lot of ventures now are becoming very far-fetched and can tend to address a false market. Your experience and expertise seems to line up well with your product and it seems like a viable idea.
